Data breach toll associated with Cl0p ransomware group’s MOVEit attack surges, with one of the latest victims disclosed being BORN Ontario. The breach affected 3.4 million individuals and their PHI. Speaking of breaches, BlackCat claimed credit for quite a few. Progressive Leasing is one of those victims and the breach reportedly impacted 40 million. A few other newly disclosed ransomware victims include Clarion, Phil-Data Business Systems Inc., and MNGI Digestive Health. Read along for more details.

The Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN) in Ontario experienced a data breach affecting the PHI and other sensitive details of 3.4 million people. It fell victim to the MOVEit ransomware attack by Cl0p.

Progressive Leasing experienced a BlackCat ransomware attack leading to potential exposure of personally identifiable information of over 40 million customers.

The Royal ransomware group infiltrated Dallas' systems and exfiltrated almost 1.2TB of data before launching a ransomware attack that impacted emergency dispatch systems, IT, municipal courts, and utilities.

The Hong Kong Consumer Council disclosed that a cyberattack against the oversight body might have exposed the personal information of over 25,000 individuals, a significant increase from the initial estimate of 8,000.

Group-IB identified a threat actor known as ShadowSyndicate that has likely deployed seven different ransomware families, including Quantum, Nokoyawa, BlackCat, Cl0p, Royal, Cactus, and Play, in attacks over the past year.
