Any VPN that is free are poor selection think about how they make money and fund marketing. TOR has quality security and hops involved in the process. If a VPN is what you need and not TOR look into the types of VPNs or proxies, from there I highly suggest setting your own up with physical hardware, not a VPS or VDS.

Love TOR. Would use TOR all the time but latency issues are def a concern when doing shady things. Physical hardware is a work in progress and in the meantime just checking out what others use.

Every year or so I check Privacy Tools: https://www.privacytools.io/privacy-vpn for what VPN's have been given a security audit, have the best privacy policies, in countries that don't give up data via a subpoena, etc. They're very transparent with how they choose them, and make sure to keep them up to date when one of the VPN companies doesn't live up to what they advertise, they remove them from the list.
